Ball Shots!

Sat Jan 30, 2010, 10:40 PM
If ye haven't noticed, I've added some new stuff (and I like to say ye, it makes me feel pretentious...or olde school. Whatever). They were comics I've drawn while subbing (I am a certified English teacher, but have yet to land a permanent position) and just now got around to scanning, putting together, and haphazardly adding text to. I finally got the motivation to do this because, as one of the comics say (or maybe it doesn't), Ryan Sohmer, the creator and writer on two kick-ass comics (found here: www.leasticoulddo.com & www.lfgcomic.com) wanted to give away five subscriptions to webcomics.com. Now, as being a very amatuer artist and not quite as amatuer but still not paid for writer, I've been looking to bust into the comic biz for awhile (both in online form and not so online form, also known as the real word, or IRL for you netspeakers out there) so I rushed these out the door to meet the deadline. I don't think I did, as I was just putting the last one up as the winners were announced.
Now, I do not criticize the man, as he was nice enough to offer to read through my manuscript (it's a year and a half later and he still hasn't, but that's another story altogether), but most of the people who submitted entries and subsequently were picked, were people who joined the forums for the sole purpose of entering the contest. Now, I've had gripes with this type of behavior before (just ask my old highschool choir teacher) and I'm not going to say that the people who were picked didn't have a superior product nor is there a way to prove they haven't been following the comics for years, as I have, but it just seems...cheap.
Anyway, the "Why You Wanna Kill Me?" comic has about 75 hits as of this entry, yet no one has taken the time to comment on it. Again, maybe I'm asking too much, but yeah...I don't know. I'm rambling and trying to type this on a not so good laptop keyboard while playing modern warfare 2.
Oh, almost forgot to explain the title. In high school I created the Ball character, who appears in several of the posted comics. It's creative, I know. I'm a genius, truly. When I was working on one of the comics in my econ class in said high school, one of the jerkoff classmates o' mine said, durrrr, look at his ballshots. Or something like that. I disliked that guy. Glad to know he got even more fat. And ugly. Did I mention I didn't like this guy? Anywho...so that was going to be the name of the webcomic if and when I ever get it started. Like...for reals.
Ok...now I'm really, very done with this entry. I mean it. I won't come back in five minutes with more to add. You'll see. You'll all see...
